Our Story
Located just a short drive or a ten minute walk from the centre of Sawbridgeworth, the Orange Tree is a beacon of relaxed fine dining nestled in a delightful corner of the English countryside.
The menu is created by Chef/Patron Gareth Davies who brings many years of experience to the kitchen learning his craft both in this country and throughout the world.
Our menu combines the best of modern fine dining and delicious takes on Great British pub classics. All of our food is prepared fresh in house to Gareth’s own recipes.
Daily trips to the butchers and fresh deliveries from trusted quality suppliers every day, mean that everything on your plate is fresh, homemade and to the highest possible standard.
We also boast a daily changing specials board which features fresh fish caught from UK day boats, so there is always something new to try at the Orange Tree.
LOCAL FOOD & BEVERAGES
The quality of our food is matched by locally brewed ales from McMullens brewery just down the road in Hertford. It takes just 15 minutes for a barrel to get from the brewery to our cellar where the Front of House team look after them so they are kept in peak condition. As well as McMullens regular ales, we also stock Peroni, Stella, Fosters, Guinness plus an extensive wine list with many choices available by the glass and many more still by the bottle.
The philosophy at the Orange Tree is simple – good honest fresh food, strong flavours and beautifully presented. With carefully considered drinks and friendly staff this is a place where you can be comfy, relaxed, enthused, inspired, welcomed and looked-after.
